Peter Pan

I was fighting with

My shadow when I saw your

Window light. I flew

Up to catch a glimpse

Of your beauty in the night.

Your eyes did sparkle

As your hair, you brushed,

Singing a quiet tune to

Yourself. I crept in.

I didn’t want to

Frighten. Your rouged lips danced in

The mirror, and I

Believed you had a

Kiss for me, one your mother

Always said you hid.

You have grown into

A woman, but I have not

Changed a hair. I slipped

My pipe from my pouch

And began to play my tune,

Your eyes darkened and

You nodded along.

Rising from your vanity,

You finally turned.

I laid you down, took

My kiss. Before I left I

Marked you as my own.
